Happy Birthday revolves around dismantling the notion that a photograph can tell the truth. The disconnect between a perceived situation and the reality is something that continues to warp my experience. For this project, each work starts with a knitted base. Through the use of a knit I am able to manipulate the structure itself to alter the printed image. The prints take on a different life between each iteration. With intarsia, specific areas remain with distortion surrounding. This hammers in the thought that a photo can only show a portion of reality, if there is any truth at all.
